What Is MemeRPG?

MemeRPG is a turn-based RPG game in which the characters are either popular Wojak drawings or depictions of popular internet memes in Wojak style. The game has only launched on the web, which is only hosted on memerpg.net for its players.

The Main Game Content

MemeRPG features a story-mode campaign where the player plays against the CPU, and a PvP mode. (As of now, the only PvP the players have access to is local PvP where the players take turns from the same device.)

-The campaign is divided into chapters, and each chapter features a set of levels, including bonus levels that aren't mandatory for the core campaign progression.

-The PvP mode allows players to test their game strategies against other players which have equivalent characters.

Characters

The characters in MemeRPG are satirical drawings originating in internet culture. Most of the wojak based characters in the game are slightly or significantly altered versions of Wojak drawings from the internet. There are 2 different types of characters:

Player Characters: These are the characters that the players can unlock through buying them with game currency or making progress in the campaign.
Chad, which is the starter character for every player is also a player character.
Each player character has 3 unique moves, which are different both from other moves of the same player character and the moves of other player characters. The players can choose to use one of these moves when it's their turn.

NPC's: NPC's are the CPU controlled characters that the player fights in campaign levels. Most CPU characters have only 1-2 moves and no targeting logic (they target their enemies randomly).

The Game Logic

A MemeRPG game logic works differently for PvE (Player VS CPU) and PvP matches.

For PvE matches (campaign): PvE matches consist of 1 or, often times more stage(s).
Every stage has a set number of NPC characters that the user fights. To beat a stage and move on, a player has to slay every NPC on that stage.
The player starts first. After player makes one move with each one of their characters, all NPC characters make one move in return according to their targeting logic. After both player characters and NPC's make their moves, a round ends and it is player's turn again.
Once a player completes the last stage, they beat the level. If all of player characters are slayed by NPC characters, the player loses.

For PvP matches: On PvP matches, players make one move and the turn passes to the other player. P1= Player that starts first, P2=The other player
On PvP, the P2 gets the chance to make one last move if all of their characters are slayed. If they manage to slay all remaining P1 characters with the last move, the game ends in a tie.

Spells

"Spells" is a gameplay mechanic that is unlocked in Chapter 1 level 11. Spells, which are independent from characters, can be used by a player as advantage, such as dealing damage to an enemy character or healing their own character. A player can only use one spell per turn.

The catch is, the number of spells that a player can choose is limited. Every unique spell has an energy cost.

Players can choose a mix of the same spells and different spells, as long as the combined energy cost of the spells does not exceed 100 energy.

Game Economy

The game features a simple economy, as there is only one in-game currency named memecoins that can be obtained mainly through completing levels and achievements. To avoid confussion, the "memecoin" currency is an in-game currency and NOT a cryptocurrency.

The player can spend their memecoins on buying characters and spells, as well as upgrading the characters and spells they have from the shop.

Upgrades

A player can upgrade their characters and spells to increase their statistics. Every character/spell is level 1 upon unlocking. Every upgrade boosts the stats of a character/spell by 20%. Characters and spells can be upgraded to a max level of 11.

Achievements

Achievements feature memecoin rewards for two types of achievements that the players can unlock:

Challenges: Challenges are achievements that rewards the player for performing unique and spesific actions, such as beating a certain level with a certain set of characters.

Milestones: Milestones are multi-level achievements. Milestones reward the player for repeated actions that are in the core game loop, such as upgrading characters a certain amount of times or slaying NPC characters a certain amount of times on campaign.
